Is it though? Like seriously, will Linux support really hold back most applications? Even today it’s still a niche OS, typically only run by a niche sector of users.

Android is open source too, but Microsoft has spared no expense there for maui.

Lots of people run Android.

This request isn’t asking for Linux support. It’s asking Microsoft to pay developers to build in Linux support. I suspect Microsoft’s reluctance is because it requires a lot of work, which will only benefit a very small number of users. Even if you disagree (and I think there are good arguments to support Linux), you can’t say that’s an unreasonable position.
